Lanzarote, as well as any other Canary island, has a perfect weather to practice any sport every month of the year.

The weather is one of the reasons why many of the professional national and international sportsmen come to the island to prepare themselves. The most significant event is without any doubt the Lanzarote Ironman, organized by La Santa Club. Whatever is your favorite sport, Lanzarote became a well equipped centre for spare time.

It offers a splendid scenario to practice sport or enjoy spare time in contact with nature, a real paradise for those who love the sea and aquatic sports.

The sea related sports, like scuba diving, where you can realize amazing immersions, with breathtaking seabeds, more than ten shipwrecks where you will be able to admire the variety of different species living in the Canaries , scuba fishing, with fishing-rod or ocean-going fishing, surf, kitesurf and windsurf.

Open air sports, nautical, water and earth sports can be practiced the whole year: sailing, scuba diving or immersions, windsurf, kite, surf, bodyboard, wakeboard, water sky, canoeing, jet sky, cycling, climbing, trekking, delta-gliding, para-gliding ...

Native sports of the island, the Canary fight, a face to face clash with the aim of knocking the other down. The Canary pole, as if it was a defensive arm, in Lanzarote is practiced in different ways, and that's why it's called "palo conejero", or "bola Canaria", very often you will see young and adults practicing this "bola" in the various tele-club located in many villages of the island.

Recommended to everyone: Swimming crossing of El Rìo is the ideal competition. Is celebrated every year in its traditional form, on the second half of September. We shouldn't forget that the aim of this competition is involving in sport the inhabitants of Lanzarote.For this reason inscriptions are always open to beginner swimmers up to pro. The important here is participating and having fun. The event is managed by El Cabildo, being the Servivcio Insular de Deporte responsible of its organization.
